The Harley-Davidson Barricade engineer boot is a discontinued
boot model that has several new models taking its place.
The closest new model to the Harley-Davidson Barricade engineer
boot that is out now is the Megamotor engineer boot for men and
the HD Wayward for women. Also, for men take a look at the Mega
Conductor. Both these models have a thick rubber sole style somewhat
similar to that on the Barricade boot. Besides the Wayward boot
which features a front zipper, women may want to look at the Harley
Davidson Shylo. This boot is a trendy looking engineer styled
biker boot that many women like. (Compare the model's photos at
the lower left so you can see the differences in belts, harnesses,
soles and zipper styles. The Barricade photo gives you a good
point of reference.)
While it looks less like the Barricade, I personally find the
HD Flash engineer boot to be my favorite. It is consider more
a harness boot but has a round toe instead of the squared off
one. I myself like the round toes and don’t care for the
square ones. They just don’t look aerodynamic to me and
I prefer a boot that cuts the wind when I’m riding American
motorcycles.
I’m going to throw my own 2 cents in here. I don’t
think Harley Davidson boots are the best out there. Some are fine
but I think you are paying more for the name and getting less
in a quality product. I prefer to buy products from companies
that specialize. Before you buy take a look at some of the other
motorcycle boot brands. Many of these boot manufacturers just
make boots and have done so as long as Harley has been making
bikes in some cases. Wolverine, who manufactures Harley boots,
is a good boot company but I feel the HD boots get tagged with
a higher price because of the HD name. It may not be worth it
if you can get a better-engineered boot by someone else for less
money. Or spend a little more and get a really superb piece of
footwear. Buy a motorcycle from Harley but be weary of some of
the other things they sell. I understand branding but seriously,
do I need a $28 ashtray when a $2 one will do?
