In 1901 Chippewa boots started making their first logger boot
but now they are famous for motorcycle boots, snake boots, Wellington
boots and many more.
As Chippewa logger boots grew more styles were added. Now whatever
you need in a boot a Chippewa boot can meet that need. In addition
to their logger boot, which is a great all around work and utility
boots I particularly like their Chippewa motorcycle boots. They
have solid side belt straps and a toe shifter pad.
If you find yourself in wildness areas with snakes, Chippewa
snake boots offer more protection than a thick logger boot can.
They make snake proof boots that not only keep you from getting
bitten but they are waterproof as well. I think the pull-on model
is great. The 17” lace-up version seems a lot of work to
me because of so many laces. Plus I’m a little paranoid
about having a snake strike and get his fangs stuck in the laces.
He could end up kind of hanging there and you have to figure out
how to deal with him. However, my concern may not be that well
founded and many people may like the lace-up snake proof boots
just as well.
While the Chippewa logger boot collection is truly amazing and
should be considered on their own merit, if you want good leather
lined Wellingtons or a western style boot, they have some very
good ones. The 12” Bay Crazy Horse Wellington boot is a
very basic looking boot but with the Vibram® sole and Body
Cushion® it becomes a great all around Vibram® lug sole
work or utility boot.
