The Wolverine boot company no longer makes Wolverine boots-boarhide.
I recently wrote the Wolverine boot company to ask about Wolverine
boots-boarhide and they told me they no longer make boots using
this leather. Customer service said, “It has been a few
years since we have offered footwear constructed from boar’s
hide leather. This naturally breathable leather type became cost
prohibitive as it must be sourced from South America.”
I also asked them what they might recommend that would be similar
and they said, “Unfortunately, neither pigskin nor cowhide
leather offer similar properties to boar’s hide. This leather
type is naturally perforated and extremely durable. In order to
offer a recommendation of a suitable performer, we should begin
with your specific occupation/use and your requirements.”
Made sense to me.
I really appreciated Wolverine’s custom service response
and thoughtfulness. A lot of companies nowadays don’t even
respond to an email. They just can’t be bothered but this
boot company did. So I plan to still buy boots from them no matter
what the leather type is. I feel it’s wise to support good
companies through the purchase of their products.
If you are still looking for Wolverine boars hide boots, you
might find a pair on Ebay or some old stock on Amazon. There are
also some boot manufacturers that use this leather but these are
unknown companies to me. Therefore I can’t recommend them
because I don’t know a thing about their quality.
