Finding a wide calf boot in a good fashion boot or
women’s dress boot is not difficult as long as you know
what to look for
Sometimes being a bit curvy can mean your calves are a bit curvy
as well. Getting a good pair of boots to fit is to say the least
disappointing. But finding a wide calf boot isn’t hard as
long as you know your size. Most lady fashion boots come with
and average shaft size of 14-14 1/2 inches. This means most 15”
boots are considered wide calf boots but this is incorrect. A
15” boot is too slim for a plus sized person. You need to
look for a 16 -21” wide shaft size in order to find a fashion
boot or women’s dress boot that will fit.
Know your wide calf boot size by knowing your calf size. Take
a tape measure and measure the widest fullest part of your calf.
You can use a string too and then stretch it to a ruler if you
like. For any women’s dress boot you see make sure that
the specifications for it note the shaft size. Don’t be
fooled by ads that say “wide boot” because these typical
fashion boot ads can be wrong. You need to know the exact shaft
specs in order to get the sexy boot you want.
Some styles of boots are more flexible than others as to how
they fit. Boots with side and back lacing can stretch a bit. If
you need a wide calf boot and you normally have a 15-16”
calf size you can get into these boots okay. But forget about
it if you are larger than 16”. Fashion boots with lacing
will help with stretching a few centimeters but not much beyond
that. Side zippers are a nice addition to women’s dress
boots because they are helpful in getting the boots on and off.
Other boots to consider depending on your needs would be sheep
skin boots and rubber boots because these can often be looser
fitting or stretch well too.
