Double check with the dealer first that the Carolina
work boots non insulated plain toe style you choose
comes with all the features you want and is truly without insulation.
There are four style collections of Carolina work boots non insulated
plain toe to choose from. The Redwoods, Gold, Workflex, and Gorilla
series are the categories available that are currently considered
Carolina work boots. Variations of these models can come with
insulation and that’s where the identification problem starts.
Locating non insulated boots within the four categories is a
little tricky. Most boot manufacturers and dealers advertise when
a boot is insulated and not when they aren’t. This makes
searching websites using the term “non-insulated”
difficult because it won’t show any results or a bunch of
insulated boots will come up instead. Exactly what you don’t
want. Basically if I were you, I’d figure out which styles
of boots I was interested in and then double check with the dealer
via email to make sure they weren’t insulated. While this
is a small hassle it’s better than getting the wrong boots.
Of the work boots available in Carolina’s current line
the Redwoods are the most expensive and the Gorilla work boots
are the least amount of money. I don’t much care for the
Redwoods. They don’t appeal to me in color or style. The
Gorillas are dull too. They look like the typical Timberland or
Caterpillar boots you see rappers wear on TV with the laces undone
and the boot tongues hanging out. While neither of these styles
interests me, I’m sure they are quality made boots.
However, the Gold and Workflex series are worth a close look.
Depending on your needs and work situation you should be able
to choose one of these styles to fit. I personally feel the Gold
8 inch steel toe work boot to be perfect for my needs. I lift
heavy speakers and band equipment plus do light construction work.
The Gold 8 inch has soft leather outers with a pillow cushion
inside and sports an Ultrawelt construction for a durable lightweight
sole. These boots are much like the Lacrosse boots I wear now.
I also favor the Carolina workflex safety boots with the side
zipper. They feature the same pillow cushion inside but have a
Vibram sole and are oil and slip resistant. I’d wear these
for motorcycle riding as well as work. You can get them with a
steel toe or without just like the Gold series.
It should also be noted that neither of these Carolina work boots
are waterproof but I’m sure you could start treating them
with a boot wax to make them become water resistant. My dad used
wax one time and said it worked great in waterproofing a pair
of Danner work boots he had.
