Blundstone boots make good dress or casual boots and
some people claim they are unbelievably comfortable…However…
I can’t completely claim that my Blundstone boots are that
comfortable. I do like them. I got them mainly to use as a leather
dress boot but have ended up using them for casual purposes too.
A friend of mine swore to me that his Blundstone footwear was
the most comfortable he had ever owned. He raved about them. He
wore them with a suit. Plus he practically wore them every day
like Dr. Martens boots get worn. However, I have a couple comments
on these boots I’d like to make.
First, I dig the look of my Blundstones. They are a quick slip
on boot, which is very handy. The front end is smooth, simple
and clean looking in its design. On the inside of the boot there
really isn’t anything-special going on. They are like Dr.
Martens boots in that respect. There is no extra lining or cushioning.
The insides are literally raw or barren. There’s not enough
cushion to the sole. I put in some Dr. Shoals pads to replace
the ones that came with them. It’s better now. I’ve
worn these boots at the office and I wear them with jeans. The
Blundstones work great as men’s casual boots. Also, my Blundstone
500s are considered unisex boots so women and girls can wear them
too. It should also be noted that there are childrens Blundstone
boots available as well.
My biggest complaint about my Australian Blundstone boots is
they hurt the top of my foot. The spot on my foot directly above
my arch, the instep, rubs like crazy. I do have a high arch, which
causes my foot to be high in this spot. I did purchase a size
larger to try and counter act this. This did work a little. However,
the discomfort was still there so I took the boots to a boot repair
shop to get them stretched in this spot. But they told me it couldn’t
be done to these types of boots. So instead the repairman put
a piece of soft moleskin on the inside of the instep in the area
of friction. It didn’t work. The moleskin came off after
a few days. My friend who loves everything Australian Blundstone
doesn’t have this problem because he has flat feet. So if
you have less of an arch, you’ll not have this problem.
So while I can’t say that my Blundstone boots are the most
comfortable dress or casual boots I’ve owned, I do still
enjoy them enough that I feel good about the purchase. And I still
wear them at least once a week because they go well with almost
anything I wear them with. And yes, I still suffer a bit after
I take them off because they still make my feet ache.
